ABOUT THIS PLATFORM
Any science student from any secondary school in the country can register and access the Ghana National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) past questions.
General Science instructors or facilitors at the various secondary schools can use the platform to set questions for their students.
Students can login under their various instructors and do the work assigned to them.
To start with, click on REGISTER to fill the registration form. You can either register as an INSTRUCTOR or as an INDIVIDUAL.
If you register as an instructor, aside having access to all the available NSMQ past questions, you will be able to create class list and set questions to assess your students.
If you register as an INDIVIDUAL you will have access to all the available NSMQ past question neatly grouped for your learning purposes.
After registration, you can login using the USERNAME and PASSWORD you created during the registration process.
Instructor
After the instructor has logged in, he must create a class, add students to the class and set questions for them. After setting the questions, an instructor can either decide to print out the questions and give it out to the students or let the students log in and answer the questions after that they print it out or send it to the instructor for marking. While setting the questions, a provision is made for the instructor to provide the instructions that go along with the questions and the time or duration for the questions.
Questions can be filtered based on a search term. For example, if an instructor want to set questions related to RESPIRATION, all he needs to do is to type respiration in the search box and all respiration-related questions will be displayed. The instructor will then check or tick the boxes for the desired questions, after that he will select the class whose questions he is setting and click on SAVE. The questions will be added to the selected class' question list.
At any point in time, the instructor can click on a class name to see the list of questions for that class. To empty a class question list or remove all questions from a class question list, the instructor will log in, click on CREATE A CLASS and click on CLEAR QUESTIONS for the class in question.
If an instructor want to Print out part of a contest (that is, Fundamentals, Speed Race, Problem of the Day, etc), the instructor after loggin in will click on ASSIGN QUESTIONS TO CLASS, Select the question based on YEAR, STAGE AND PART, then scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on FULL PART.
Student
A student in the context of this program is any student that is created by an instructor. So the student will need his or her instructor's ID (Instructor ID) and the student's index number (created by the instructor when creating the student list) to log in.
After logging in, the student's name will be displayed along with a START TEST button. On clicking this button, the questions will be displayed for the student to answer. After the student has finished answering the questions, he or she will click on either PRINT WITH QUESTIONS or PRINT WITHOUT QUESTIONS (which one to click on will be advised by the instructor) to print out the answers for marking.
If on the other hand the student is not able to finish before the allocated time, the student's work will be automatically displayed for the student to print out or send to instructor the moment the allocated time is over. So the student will not be able to continue answering the questions once the allocated time is over.
Individual
Any Science student from any school in the country can log in as an individual and have access to the NSMQ questions. Here the individual can go through the questions one by one based on what he or she want. The questions can be viewed WITH ANSWERS or WITHOUT ANSWERS. They can also be viewed based on a KEYWORD SEARCH or based on a CONTEST. The contests are grouped by YEAR and STAGE (that is, preliminary, one-eighth, etc).
If an individual who logged in want to view questions on let's say 'LIVER', after logging in, he will click on KEYWORD SEARCH. He will then type LIVER in the search box and click on SEARCH (the yellow button) and all questions related to the liver will be displayed.
All questions are links or hyperlinks so the individual can click on any question to browse through one by one using the NEXT and PREV buttons.
